company's guaranteed uptime? This is not as
easy to see as you believe. Most companies are going to
advertise a 99% uptime on their own web sites, but there are some
comparison sites out there. The companies I have listed above
all have a real 99% uptime.

support do they offer? Does the company offer
24/7 support in case you have an issue that you need
resolved? This is an important question when you compare
them. The ones above all offer this kind of
support.

Do they have free
features like blogs, content management systems,
discussion boards and other scripts you can add to your site?
Most companies nowadays are offering all of these scripts for
free. Check it out before you decide.

Price: You should always consider
price, but I did not want to mention it first. There are a lot of
cheap or free Charleston web hosting companies out there, but you
get what you pay for. Many of them have way too many sites on
each server and cannot handle the requests fast enough. That
means when someone tries to access your site, they may experience
VERY long delays. Be careful out there.

Can they host your
site? Some Charleston web hosting companies
cannot host .php, some cannot host FrontPage built sites, some are
just terrible. Make sure, before you commit to one, that the
hosting company can handle YOUR
site. They may list 100 features, but if they cannot host
your site the features are meaningless.
