Can you give me a general overview of the Smart Cabbage program?
The Smart Cabbage Program works like this:
- We start by doing a complete analysis of your website, where it is today and what keyword phrases you are looking to win for on Google, Yahoo and Bing.
- From there, we create a summary report of the first and necessary changes to your website to have the optimal chances of being ranked on Google.
- We also create a an ongoing ranking analysis report where we compare you and your competitors (in the keyword phrases you want win)
- You will participate through watching our Smart Cabbage videos and performing our general recommendations inside the site, asking any questions along the way if you get stuck.
- As we answer your questions, you will begin to learn the white-hat techniques that we use to get ranked.
- Every month, ranking reports can be run to see how the changes and efforts we are making affect your search engine results.
- Through your Google Analytics, the ranking reports and our other suggestions, you will begin to see the slow climb towards the top of the search engines.
- Most keyword phrases can be optimized and ranked within a few months, but other more competitive words, take a bit longer.
How long will it take for my site to get ranked?
It is difficult to tell you exactly how long it may take to get ranked on the various search engines. Each search engine has it's own algorhythm which computes the listing and ranking of sites based on keyword phrases. No one has control over those algorhythms except the companies themselves. Most ranking projects that we have undertaken have lasted 18 months to two years.
Is there any guarantee that we will get ranked higher?
The guarantee that we can make is that your rankings will increase by using our methods and suggestions. Since there are a huge number of variables in any ranking campaign, we cannot guarantee that you will be in the top ten, top five or number one position on the search engines.
That being said, we have had tremendous success using our all "White Hat" methods for getting sites ranked and keeping them there.
Any company that "guarantees" a spot on a search engine is either lying, not telling the truth, or exaggerating their abilities. No one has control over a search engine's algorithms other than the search engine companies themselves.
Can you give me some examples of companies who have used your program that are ranking better?
Sure. Do the following searches.
- Search for "Videographer" on Google and look for www.coastalvideography.com
- Search for "Charleston Wedding Planner" on Google and look for www.distinctive-events.com and www.winshipproductions.com

Does Google simply look at your keywords and meta tags, I read that somewhere.
Google looks at over 200 different on and off page factors when considering your ranking in their index. Here are a few that you may or may not know
- Content on your site
- Image naming
- Speed of site loading
- Page Rank
- External links
- Site age
- Domain name
I know very little about SEO and usually recommend that my clients contract with someone who has expertise in that area to fill that need. Will your do-it-yourself level enable me to become proficient enough to help my clients with SEO on their sites?
Marianne,
Thanks so much for your question. The Do-it-yourself program is perfectly suited to teach you what you need to know to help your clients. I would charge a bit for the work however, because while SEO and SEM aren't difficult, they are time-consuming. For this reason, if I take on an SEO client, I generally charge $125 per hour for doing the work for them. That is why this concept is so powerful. You learn the skill and you can charge others for it.
what is smart cabbage?
Short answer - Easily remembered name. Longer answer: My best friend from college is from New Jersey and has the loud, crazy accent. In New Jersey, "cabbage" can mean a person's head. As in "cabbage head." More frequently, it means "money." At WPPI I had two guys from NJ who came by the booth and said in their thick accents, "Smaaaart Money!"
where are you from?
I am based about 3,000 feet up and 20 miles West of Denver, CO. Originally from South Carolina.
what is smart cabbage?
My friend from New Jersey used to use the word "cabbage" for two different things. To refer to someone's head and to refer to money. Thus, Smart Cabbage was formed as a way to say Smart in the head or smart with your money.
