Alternatives to FrontPage If you are still a FrontPage user, you should really consider other
web design (like XSitePro) and building programs. There are several other programs out there that will offer more
design flexibility and features to make your life a whole lot easier.
If you have used FrontPage for any amount of time (I used it for about 2 years), then you know the frustrations that you have with its
use. Having to use servers that have FP extensions, lack of design capabilities, and the incompatibility with users' browsers are just a
few of the problems I faced while using the product.
I also found that web marketing and FrontPage were generally incompatible. I was never able to optimize my web sites for the
search engines, which meant that I was never found via search. I was never able to properly add affiliate links and Google AdSense.
When I did add them, it meant a lot more work reformatting my site to keep the look and feel the same.
I also found that people using browsers other than Internet Explorer were sometimes unable to view my FrontPage buttons or my template
designs.
XSitePro is a better solution
When I found XSitePro , it was only after a couple of years using two other products. I used Adobe's GoLive and Macromedia's (now Adobe)
Dreamweaver. Of those, Dreamweaver was by far the superior product. So, I stuck it out with Dreamweaver for quite some time, but even
DW has some limitations.
For example, to change the entire look and feel of a website, you would have to start completely over with FrontPage, DW or just about any
other program out there. With XSitePro you just make a few adjustments in the 'Website Layout' tab and then upload to your server (another
automated process) and voilà! You have updated the look and feel. Nothing is faster!
XSitePro allows you to update multiple websites in minutes where DW would take hours. I use it to manage 20 different websites and XSitePro
handles flawlessly.
XsitePro can be downloaded here.
